Hi there and thanks for stopping by!
This blog is intended to answer important questions, such as “Why is my urine so yellow when I take vitamins”.
My answers are based on internet research and I try to quote as accurately as possible. But please let me know or comment if you find better answers than me.
I’m also open to suggestions, so if you have a burning question you’d like to know more about – send it over and I’ll try my best to find you some satisfying answers.
I’d love to hear what you think, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment. You can also tweet me @eva_pana to let me know if you like this blog. If you don’t like it, please don’t let me know as it will crush my self-confidence 😉
I guess the first question to be answered, is: Why a blog?
The truth is, I’ve always wanted to have my own blog. In fact, it’s been on my bucket list for a while (although I hate that term. Bucket list… really, only death can pressure us into doing the things that we enjoy?! Are we really that lazy?), but I never knew what to write about. My life always seemed too “normal” and I don’t have an extraordinary hobby/baby/pet that is worth blogging about (although I do have a pretty great boyfriend, but I don’t think he’d be comfortable if I discussed him on the internet). I have a lot of friends who blog fairly regularly and who have really interesting blogs. What is most astonishing to me is that they never seem to run out of topics to write about. I have to admit, I’ve opened several WordPress accounts, with my mind totally set on writing about all the things I care about: Travelling, food, being healthy, dessert…you know, random stuff I like. I always imagined that by having an awesome blog, my life would suddenly turn into Sex and the City. I would sit in cute little coffee shops with my laptop and write witty stories about all the craaaazy stuff that happens to me. But, I’m no Carrie Bradshaw and even though I am quite pleased with my life, I have to admit: I’m pretty boring. In a good way. Like most people.
So, anyways, to conclude my epic intro to this blog: Why have I finally made the leap to not only open a wordpress account but to actually write a post (gasp)?
I live in Panama, a country where not having a car can make your life very challenging. Needless to say, I don’t have a car. For months and months, I struggled with finding cabs (oh, that’s another thing about Panama. Here, cab drivers decide if they want to take you wherever it is you want to go. Depending on traffic, route, distance, you’ll either get a slight nod in which case you should sprint and jump into that cab as fast as you can, ooor they laugh in your face, tell you you’re crazy and drive off…I should mention that this is the most common scenario. Think of it as the (ta)X(i)-Factor, where the cabbie is the only and ultimate judge and you are the contestant). So, at some point, I was like “F%&k this…I’m going to walk.” The walk from my office to my house is about 45-50 minutes. I’ve made this my daily listen-to-music/podcast/thinking/me-time. And, I actually really enjoy my walks home now even though I always arrive home a sweaty mess (Panama is hot!) and have ruined about 5 pairs of shoes in the last 4 months. When I’m in my “zone”, I keep getting these fleeting moments of wonder. “Why is the Sky Blue”…”Why is yawning contagious”…”Why is the ocean salty?”…Normally, I ask myself these questions, think “I should really Google this” and then forget.
But I actually really want to know why the sky is blue and why we yawn and why the ocean is salty and why tomato juice only tastes good on airplanes and why you get that falling feeling when you’re about to fall asleep.
So, this blog is a chance to answer all these questions. Please feel free to weigh in whenever you like and let me know if you find any better answers than me.
